CalorieCalc

Calculating ideal target weight is different for every person.  There are several ways to do it.  Some my pick the weight they had at age 25 or so.  Others may relay on there doctor.  This program uses a rule of thumb formula that calculates your target weight based on your sex and height.

Once your target weight is found you can then easily calculate what your daily calories need to be.  By choosing a caloric intake less than the daily target will cause you to loose weight and the opposite if you choose a weight above the daily target.

Using the Program

First you need to select your sex.  Do this with the panel at the top of the screen.

Once your sex is selected you then need to set your height in feet and inches.  You do this by clicking on the small arrows for the appropriate field.  As you make changes the Suggested Weight field will show the ideal weight for your sex and height.

The suggested weight may not be perfect for every one.  As a matter of fact if the target weight it significantly different from your actual weight you make need to pick a number in-between the two so that you can have a reasonable goal.

The Actual Target Weight selector is used to change your target weight to something a bit more reasonable.  As you make changes the Daily Calories will indicate the caloric intake needed to achieve or maintain that weight.

You will need to select the kind of life style to one of the 5 settings shown.  If you are very athletic and are constantly at the gym or jogging and biking you will need to select the Very Active setting.  If you never exercise and your job keeps you at a desk you need to select Inactive.

The Seriously Overweight setting is subjective and should probably be discussed with your doctor.

Note that you may use the keyboard to enter numbers directly into the fields but the targets will not be calculated unless one of the arrows or selectors are hit.
