HealthAtHand (v1.3.1) is the ultimate in diet control.

I needed take control my diet.  I started using a paper and pencil and 5 of those food counter books.  I found each meal a real pain to keep track of the meal.  It actually took me longer to enter all the food items into a form than it did to eat them.

One thing I found is that as time goes on we tend to eat the same foods.  For instance At least 3 times a month I eat a particular stir-fry dish and at least twice a month I would eat a breaded fish meal.  You see this goes on and on.  Even when we go out to eat I tend to eat particular dishes that I enjoy.

That's when I decided to write a program called HealthAtHand.  HealthAtHand takes advantage of the fact that we tend to migrate towards particular foods.

My wife and I really like your program. We are on long overdue diets and HealthAtHand has been an indispensable tool in that process.  With the help of your program I have lost 100 LBS and my wife has lost almost 50 LBS.

Lets take a look at some of the HealthAtHands features.

Daily Diary

This is where you enter food Items and meals into you diary.  It has a small graph to help you keep track of various nutritional values.

It tracks

  • Calories

  • Fat

  • Cholesterol

  • Carbs

  • fiber

  • Sodium

  • Protein

It keeps track of meal and snack totals as well as Daily totals.

Custom Food Database

The food data base is where to place all those common food items that we eat.  You place the food entries into categories.  You may create as many categories as you wish.  Once you have a food entry its a simple matter to copy it into your meal diary.

Recipes and Dishes

It would be a real pain to enter individual food entries into meals for complex dishes each time.  So we create a dish.  A dish is a collection of food items where the totals are calculated and used when you add one or more servings to a meal.  You can also use it to keep track of your favorite recipes.  There is even a place where you can enter preparation or cooking notes.

Full USDA Nutrition DataBase

We have integrated our complete NutritionAtHand database into one of the HealthAtHand Forms.

Each food item lists the following nutritional information.

  • Calories
  • Total Fat
  • Cholesterol
  • Sodium
  • Carbohydrates
  • Fiber
  • Protein
  • Sugar
  • Saturated Fat
  • Monounsaturated Fat
  • Polyunsaturated Fat

We use a  proprietary database system  that uses only 1.5 meg for the entire 10,700 entries.  This data base is so fast that you can scroll from the top to the bottom un a couple of seconds even on slower 200 MHz devices.

USDA Weight Based Nutrition Tables

Often you need to measure common food items.  Using books and other databases makes it difficult to convert those items for use in recipes.

Here you select a food item and its weight from any common kitchen scale in grahams or ounces.  You will be presented with the nutritional values that can easily be pasted into the other forms.

Shopping List

We have even added a simple shopping list to aid you in your recipes and food entries.  You can copy any item in any of the databases to the shopping list.

The shopping list allows you to mark off items as you shop.

Food Entry Form

When you add a food entry to a meal, dish or food database you use our unique import form.  This allows you to easily cycle through selections on any of the other forms or clip board.  you can even convert the values which is perfect for calculating servings.
