HealthAtHand Diary Help

The HealthAtHand Diary panel is used to keep track of your daily food consumption.  Here you can track your meal totals as well as your totals for the day.

Changing the Meal Dates

You select the day you want to view or edit by using the Date Picker located at the top of the panel.

You can scroll the dates by using the two small arrows or you can bring up the calendar by clicking the date.

By clicking on the Today field you can force the calendar to the current date.

Adding or Changing Meals

Once the date is selected you can then edit or add meals to the meal list.

To add or change a meal name or time,  hold the stylus down on the entry to change.  This will pop up the meal menu.

Here you can add, edit, or delete a meal. When you delete a meal all its ingredients will also be removed. You may also delete all meals for the day.  This option is used when you want to clear space on your Device.

If you decide to add or edit a meal, the meal edit form will pop up.

Here you set the date and select the title for the meal.  There are 6 preset titles.  You can also select the custom title and type any title you wish.  This field is limited to 15 characters.  You may set the current date by selecting the Now Button.  Click the Finish button to save the changes or the Cancel button to exit without any changes.

Adding or Changing Meal Ingredients

Once you have selected or created a meal you can now add or edit ingredients for that meal.  This is done using the meal detail list.

This list will display all the ingredients for the selected meal, as well as the meal totals and the daily running totals.  The daily totals are also used to display the target graphs discussed later.

Use the scroll bars to scroll the list so that you can bring into view the additional food values.  You can also drag the header field separators to resize the field.

There are several operations you can perform on meal ingredients.  Hold down the stylus and the following options will be presented to you.  Not that the Paste option will only appear if there is an item on the clipboard.

The first set of operations makes changes to the ingredients while the others make copies of the information for use in other panels.  The real power of the HealthAtHand system reveals itsself with the many ways in which you can copy the data from one panel or database to another.

Paste XXXX into Meal Here you can directly paste the clipboard contents into the meal as a new ingredient.  Note that the XXXX will be replaced by the first 15 characters of the clipboard description.  Once you select this option you will be presented with a paste dialog box.  This dialog box will alloy you to make modifications before you insert the ingredient into the meal.

Edit Selected Ingredient

This allows you to add or edit an ingredient.  There are several options during this process so we have added a complete help file to explain all the features of editing ingredients.

Add/Edit Details

Delete Selected Ingredient This will allow you to remove an ingredient.  You will be prompted one last time to make sure you want to complete this operation.  Remember you must remove all ingredients from a meal before you can remove the meal.

Copy Ingredients to Clipboard The selected ingredient is copied to the clipboard.  This will allow you to paste the ingredient into other panels.  You can also paste the clipboard into other applications like Pocket Word.

Copy Meal Totals to Clipboard The selected meal totals are copied to the clipboard.  This will allow you to paste these totals as a single ingredient into another panel.  Use this option to take a whole meal and add it to your dish or food databases.

Place Ingredient on Shopping List

This takes the name of the ingredient and add an entry to the shopping list.

Targets

Totals are calculated for each day.  These totals are then compared to the target settings you have set using the Target Form shown below.

Each of the recorded entries are displayed on the target graph.  Each bar is divided in half with a small center line.  This center line represents the target.  If your daily total goes over your preset target it will be displayed in red.  This is true for all readings except the Fiber and Protein bars.  With these, they are displayed in dark green.  In the above target example the Fat, Cholesterol, Sodium and Protein totals are all over the targets.   If the upper portion of the bar is filled with red then you are at double your target.  What does this mean?  The more red you see the more you are over your targets.

To set the targets select Targets from the Program menu.

Change your targets and hit the Finish button.

You will also notice a set of fields located under the Add label.  This is what we call the fudge factor.  The truth is no matter what the diet, we tend to munch on little snacks and tidbits.  Here you can place a value into these fields and each day it will be added to your totals.  For instance if you eat a hand full of walnuts each day you can add the value for those nuts here.
