HealthAtHand Ingredient Edit Form Help

The edit form is probably the most powerful form in the HealthAtHand program.

It is the same form used for both add and edit operations.  The only difference is that it starts out empty when doing and add operation.

Manually Editing/Adding and Ingredient

To manually make changes to an ingredient, simply type the data into the fields.  Hit the Finish key to commit or the Cancel key to cancel the operation without keeping any changes.

Pasting an ingredient into the Edit Form

To paste the clipboard, hold the stylus on any of the data fields until the paste menu pops up.

By selecting the Paste option the paste form will pop up and the results will replace all the fields.  By selecting the Add option the paste form will pop up and the results will be added to the current values.

Using the Import Form

You have probably seen the import form before as it is used in the paste form.  This form is activated by selecting the small check box in the lower left hand corner of the edit form.  This will add the import form to the edit form.

By clicking the import button, all the values on the import form will be copied to the edit fields, replacing their values.

By selecting the add option checkbox you will see the import button change to an add button.  By clicking the add button all the values on the import form will be added to current values in the edit fields.

Changing the Import Values

To change the values of the ingredients to be imported, use the Multiply/Divide field.  Select the field with stylus and use the mini keypad to make changes to the field.

Notice here that we changed the field to "2".  This will cause the import values to be multiplied by 2.  You will see all the values change, as well as the portion.

You can also use the cursor action pad on the Pocket PC to change the values.

You can change the Multiply operation to Divide by clicking the small key in the upper left corner of the keypad.

Click it again to change it back.

Changing the ingredient Source

By default the import form will default to the ingredient on the clipboard the first time it is accessed.

By clicking the small vertical scroll bar you can actually change the source of the ingredient.

There are 9 possible sources that you can choose from.

The Clipboard represents the values you have copied onto the clipboard.

USDA, Food, Dish and Diary sources represent the selected ingredients and meals on the various panels.

Current Edit Source

The Current Edit source is the current field values on the form you are editing.  This source will allow you to apply math directly to the edit form.  Why would you want to do this?  Say you have a can of tuna and the nutrition values are for 2 oz of the contents.  Now you want to add a whole can of tuna to a recipe or dish such as tuna salad.

Here is what you do

Enter the nutrition values for the suggested serving size.

Select the Current Edit source

Now using the mini keypad enter the servings per container in the multiply field.

Hit the import button to update the readings to the whole can.

Make sure you change the portion field to reflect the changes you made.
